Policy inputs to the Government:
CII Defence Division works very closely with the Ministry of Defence, Government of India and Armed Forces towards facilitating policies that are conducive to the growth of Indian Defence Industry.
Request for Information (RFIs):
RFIs received from Defence looking for manufacturers for a particular product are circulated to industry. A list of companies showing interest/ having capability is then forwarded to the Defence, based on Industry response received.
Qualitative Requirements:
The Division helps the Defence in making the General Staff Qualitative Requirements (GSQR) for select products where requested by the Defence.

CII Defence Division organises sector specific interactive sessions with the Armed Forces to enable the industry better understand the Defence requirements in that sector as also provide a platform to exchange views, demonstrate capability and fill communication gap. CII provides international exposure to Indian Defence Industry, CII has MoU with the Defence Manufacturers Association of UK (DMA); Polish Chamber of National Defence Manufacturers, Association of the Defence Industry of the Slovak Republish (ADISR), Association of Italian Defence and Aerospace (AIDA) and GICAN, France

The Defence Technical Assessment and Advisory Service (DTAAS) is offered by CII to assist companies to expand their business in the area of defence production. A team of professionals under a team leader carry out this assessment and advisory service. During assessment a company’s capabilities to take up various defence projects are also assessed besides to its existing products. The team also offers specialist consultancy services in the area of defence procurement procedures and policies.

The CII - Defence Acquisition Management (CII - DAM) course would assist the companies to familiarise their personnel with the Defence procurement procedures. In addition to the understanding of the defence procurement system and who's who in defence procurement, the course would cover defence acquisition policy including discussions on the new procurement procedures. The course would provide latest information pertaining to defence acquisition reform initiatives; The relationship between requirements generation, resource allocation etc.

CII Defence Davison regularly brings out several publications to enable industry to update about latest happening in Defence. Some of these publications cover sector specific information such as Offsets, Artillery Technology, Network Centric Warfare, Information Technology for Indian Navy, Public - Private Partnership opportunities with OFB etc. Further CII also regularly publish an exclusive directory of 'Indian Defence Products and Services.

To project the capabilities of retired officers from the Defence, CII organises select HR workshops in association with the Directorate General of Resettlement.
CII also works very closely with the Ex-Servicemen welfare departments of Service Headquarters to promote employment of ex-servicemen in industry.

The Defexpo India 2008 – the 5th International Land and Naval Systems Exhibition, which will be held from 16 – 19 February 2008 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi will serve as an international platform for global defence industries, users, technologists, academicians, strategic thinkers and analysts to meet and participate in in-depth dialogue security challenges, capability assessment and future requirements.
