PRESENT SCENARIO

1. Defence budget is 2.5% of GDP.
2. Naval budget for  06-07 is Rs 15,487 crores
1. Revenue: 6415 crores
2. Capital :   9072 crores
3. Environment highly conducive to Private/Public-Defence tie ups.
4. Kelkar committee recommendations supporting greater Defence Industry partnership. Indigenisation level to be raised to 70% from present 30% by 2020.
5. Private participation has now been opened up for defence.

OPPORTUNITIES

1. 27 warships and submarines on order.
2. Tie- up between OEMs and select Indian Industry right from the beginning of the Scorpene project.
3. Scorpene submarine equipment identified for indigenous development / procurement and License production
4. Indigenous development of equipment and systems as identified by Navy for other in service/new projects (Indigenous Aircraft Carrier & Project 28 - Corvette).

Indian Navy invites participation of the Indian Industry in meeting its various equipment requirements indigenously. The Navay Equipment Ruriement Forecast would enable industry to actively participate in design and development and production of various naval equipment.
