Confederation of Indian Industry and Directorate General of EME, Integrated HQ of MoD (Army) is organizing a National Seminar on Management of Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS) in Defence Services on Thursday, 16 September 2010 at DRDO Bhawan, New Delhi.
The seminar aims at evolving an effective mechanism for management of ODS in Indian Army, without any adverse impact on its combat potential. The session thus planned will focus on the following issues. .
- Impact of climate change on National Security
- India’s commitment to Montreal Protocol
- Policies for ODS Phase-out
- Alternatives for ODS in RAC applications
- Recovery, Recycling, Reclamation and Destruction of ODS
- ODS Phase out in Fire-Fighting Applications
- Halon Banking experiences and associated challenges.
The seminar will have participants from the all the three services, i.e Army, Air Force and Navy, Ozone Cell, Ministry of Environment & Forests, DRDO, United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), industry members and experts from the defence and environment sector.
The seminar aims at greater understanding of impact of ODS, Montreal Protocol and India’s commitment and also establish stronger networking amongst military establishments and technical experts on ODS phase-out and adoption of alternative technologies and implementation of alternatives
