Coinciding with the ‘DEFEXPO 2010’, Confederation of Indian Industry in association with the Directorate of Indigenisation, Indian Navy is pleased to announce Seminar on ‘Leveraging Offsets for Naval Self Reliance’ on 17th February 2010 at Hall No 7, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Self Reliance in defence is being perceived by states as a tool to enhance their strategic and military prowess. The Indian Navy has been at the vanguard in promoting indigenous design and construction of warships and equipment for many years. The process of achieving Self Reliance in the Navy is extremely complex and it requires active participation from many organisations, most important being both private and public industries. The indigenous development and induction of technologically superior equipment and systems can only be achieved by leveraging the strengths of both public and private industries in the country. The Indian Navy on its part, as an organisation at the grass roots level, has the sole responsibility of driving the Self Reliance process, since it is the final end user of the entire course of development.
The one-day seminar will focus on the following issues and concerns:
- Government Initiatives & Opportunities
- International Perspectives on Indian
- Harnessing Offset Gains for Establishing Defence
Technical papers are invited. Interested companies are requested to submit a synopsis of their technical papers at the earliest. These may please be sent at amit.singh@cii.in
The participants at the seminar will include high-level officials form the Ministry of Defence, Indian Navy, other defence establishments and senior industry representatives form both national and international companies.
